About
Niamh Wright is a scottish based contemporary jeweller graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2023. She went on to do a year-long residency at GSA to expand on design and making, focusing on honing in on her craft in digital design, specifically using VR equipment. Her interest in VR equipment stems from the endless possibilities in which she can create her jewellery; she enjoys mixing organic and manmade materials combined with distinct colours and soft forms that are unique to her personal style.
Studio
Niamh works from a shared studio at the WASPS Briggait in Glasgow—a lively space full of creative energy. It’s where she sketches, experiments, and brings her jewellery ideas to life, surrounded by a community of fellow makers.
Niamh offers a range of services, including jewellery repairs, digital design, and repurposing old pieces into something new.
Colour and Shape
Niamh transforms therapeutic creative techniques—like embroidery, chain‑making, and beading—into abstract expressions of emotional exploration. She draws on familiar forms—loops, stitches, chains—and exaggerates them into visual metaphors for her evolving inner self. Using handmade stencils, she paints in layers with watercolour, enriched with pens, pencils, and mixed media to add depth and nuance.
“I tend to use the same colours and I never knew why until I looked at old photographs of myself and found that I’m always either wearing the colours or in an environment in which they are present”
Hallmark
“NIF” isn’t just a label—it’s a name Niamh grew up with, used by her friends and family. Tailored to reflect her unique creative style, it feels like an extension of herself—a personal signature stamped onto every precious metal piece she makes.
The Hallmark was made with The Edinburgh Assay Office, where all her precious metal designs are stamped.
